Quality Solutions, Inc. was the project manager for the design and construction of the new Long
Island Sterilization facility. This build-to-suit operation in Hauppauge, Long
Island NY, was planned
for three sterilizers. The initial start-up configuration included two twin 12-pallet sterilizers. They are completely air jacketed, double-door, and stainless steel.
Each sterilizer was equipped with an online mid-infrared gas spectrometer for real-time headspace gas analysis resulting in parametric release. Pollution control was
achieved, according to NY DEM regulations, by routing all primary emissions to a Damas acid-water scrubber. The exhaust of the Damas scrubber, and all secondary emissions
are then processed by a 3000 cfm catalytic oxidizer which we mounted on the roof.

Anguil Catalytic Oxidizer
With heated sample lines, both water vapor and ethylene oxide concentrations are accurately measured.
Damas Corporation provided the acid-water scrubber. The system is rated at 99.0% DRE.
A 3000 cfm Anguil catalytic oxidizer sits on the roof and polishes the 1% stream from the Damas scrubber, as well as all the secondary emissions.
